Survivor Histories

These narratives are the true stories of people from our local community who endured the horrors of the Holocaust and other genocides, suffering through unimaginable conditions. Their survival is a testimonial to the strength of the human spirit. Click on the links below for photographs and excerpts from their stories. You will also find a link on the first page of each person's photo-essay to download their entire story.

NOTE: The Exhibit: A Journey to Life is a testimony to the Holocaust survivors who have graced our lives. The stories that we have presented are largely based on the memories that they have shared with us. Wherever it seemed necessary, we have provided historical and geographical notes to enhance the reader's understanding of the story and to reconcile any apparent contradictions that may arise from the account of the survivor.

Wherever the survivor's personal photographs, documents and artifacts are available, they have been used in the scrapbook. If no personal materials exist, archival materials have been provided. All archival materials are identified as such in the scrapbook and while they may not depict the exact experience of the survivor, they are analogous and are being used to provide visual information to the reader.
