Dr. Joan Ali Scocco, Dean of Continuing and Professional Studies

Joan Ali Scocco holds a Doctorate of Management from the University of Maryland Global Campus, a Master of Arts in Executive Communication from Seton Hall University, and a Bachelor of Business Administration in Human Resource Management from Pace University.

Dr. Ali Scocco started her career Brookdale Community College in 2004. She was first an Adjunct Instructor in 2004 and later a Learning Assistant in 2008. In 2013, she began her role as Operations Manager in the Continuing & Professional Studies department. After serving for five years as the head of operations, in 2018 Dr. Ali Scocco was appointed Dean of the Continuing & Professional Studies department. As Dean she oversees all aspects of continuing education programming, business, community and workforce development, and outreach programs. She is known as being an innovator, a servant leader, a lifelong learner, and a devoted educator. Joan’s philosophy is a simple one. “Students first. Always.” Joan’s commitment to her work stems from knowing community colleges change people’s lives for the better and provide education for a lifetime.

Earlier in her career, Joan worked in a variety of executive roles in private industry. Her experience includes serving as the Vice President, Human Resources for Deutsche Bank, formally known as Bankers Trust, and as the Director of Communications for a local engineering company.

Joan actively makes presentations to the campus and community. She serves as director on several non- profit organization boards, including the Eastern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce and the Center for Holocaust, Human Rights and Genocide Education (Chhange). Joan received the 2018 Barringer Award for Educational Excellence, Outstanding Administrator Award 2017, Outstanding Adjunct Award 2015, and awards from the National Society of Leadership and Success.
