Our keynote speaker, Jessica Kahkoska is a professor at Rutgers University's Mason Gross School of the Arts. She is also a writer, researcher/dramaturg, and producer for theatre and TV. Professor Kahkoska recently received the National Archives Foundation Cokie Roberts Women’s History Fellowship, through which she is researching the role of women in the Nuremberg trials. She will share her ethical approach to storytelling, which emphasizes community involvement and discussion.

Dr. Nicole Rizzuto has her PhD in the History of Gender & Sexuality, and is the former Program Manger of Chhange. She has conducted extensive research on the experiences and perceptions of LGBTQ+ people in the United States. After illustrating some concerning gaps in our collective historical narrative, Dr. Rizzuto will share her approach to bridging those gaps. Integrating resources like archives, oral histories, and databases, she will offer an innovative approach to introducing more inclusive history into the classroom.

Dr. Sara E. Brown is the Executive Director of Chhange. Dr. Brown holds the first Ph.D. in comparative genocide studies from Clark University's Strassler Center for Holocaust and Genocide Studies, and has worked and conducted research in Rwanda since 2004. She will introduce the idea that a good educational concept is one that shines light on a previously ignored historical perspective. Dr. Brown will then provide educators with the tools to identify and apply these illuminating concepts.
