Facing Racism – Student Art Installation

This student art installation challenged our youth to confront racism. Through artistic expression and words, students expose the pain and injustice of racism. They “face” it head-on, sharing their emotions, as well as their commitment to take a stand against racism.

The Exhibit’s Goals:

  • Encourage visitors to think about racism and how it affects individuals
  • Provide opportunity for reflection about experiencing racism
  • Inspire students to share their views and experiences, and make their voices heard
  • Help promote the elimination of racism

Exhibit Specifications:

  • Oval shaped “faces” – approximately 25” X 17” (1/2” thick)
  • Exhibit rental fee: $750 - $1,500 plus transportation
  • Grid-like structures for display purposes
  • Artist statement books 
  • Accompanying 2.5 minute Power Point video

Host Requirements:

  • One Day to Four Week booking period
  • Certificates of insurance
  • Secure, locked exhibition space that is staffed during open hours
  • No smoking, food or drinks are allowed in display area
  • Host is responsible for returning exhibit and related materials in same condition as received
  • Access to Chhange Exhibit shall not be denied to anyone on the basis of race, color, national origin, physical, or cognitive disability
